Talk to us about a review

Listening Review

Most organisations have lots of ways for people to have their say: surveys, forums, consultations, feedback forms. The hard part is what happens next. We follow people’s views through your organisation to see where they change decisions and where they quietly disappear.

How it works

We review your current listening and participation activity, talk to the people involved and follow how feedback reaches decision-makers. Then we help you decide what to change.

Scope to agree before you book
The listening activity and teams covered, the material we will review, who we will speak to, and the timetable. Tell us how feedback is currently collected and which decisions you want it to influence.

What you get

✓  A clear written review of how listening works now
✓  What is working and worth keeping
✓  Where people’s views get lost, and why
✓  Practical recommendations
✓  A session with your team to agree actions
✓  Written next steps

Good for

Organisations with lots of participation activity but no clear picture of whether it is making a difference.

“Something isn’t working for people”

Stop designing for people. Design with them.

Co-Design Sprint

Got a service, policy or idea that needs to work better? A Co-Design Sprint brings the people who use it and the people responsible for it into one focused process to understand the problem, test ideas and agree what happens next.

How it works

We plan and run the sprint around one clear problem. Depending on what you need, that can include research, workshops, trying out early versions and agreeing decisions.

Scope to agree before you book
One clear problem, who needs to take part, the number and format of sessions, what we will develop together and the timetable. Participant payments, travel and venue costs are agreed separately.

What you get

✓  A clearly defined problem to solve
✓  Professionally run co-design sessions
✓  Ideas and insights written up properly
✓  A first version, model or agreed approach
✓  A written summary of what was designed
✓  Clear recommendations and next steps

Good for

Services, policies, resources, programmes or processes that need to work better for the people using them.

Voices to Action

Copy the link to share with a colleague.

Hundreds of survey responses. Workshop notes. Consultation reports. Post-its. And a sinking feeling that someone now has to make sense of it all. We help you turn what people told you into clear findings, decisions and action.

How it works

We work through your existing evidence, draw out the strongest themes and tensions, and help your team understand what they really mean. Then we turn that insight into decisions.

Scope to agree before you book
The amount and type of existing feedback, the decisions it needs to inform, who joins the action-planning session and the timetable. Tell us what evidence you already have and what you need to decide.

What you get

✓  A clear summary of what people told you
✓  The main themes, in plain language
✓  Where people agree and where they don’t
✓  What it means for your organisation
✓  A session to agree what you will do
✓  A written action plan

Good for

Organisations stuck somewhere between “we heard you” and “here’s what changed”.

“Are we doing right by people?”

Good intentions are never enough.

Review how we work

Lived Experience Review

Link to this package ↗
Copy the link to share with a colleague.

More organisations want to work with people with lived experience, and that is a good thing. But the quality of that work varies enormously. We look at how you recruit, support, involve, pay and work alongside people, then tell you what is working and what needs attention.

What we look at

Recruitment and accessibility. Payment and expenses. Power and decision-making. Safeguarding and support. Expectations and boundaries. Feedback and communication. How contributions influence decisions. And what happens when the work ends.

Scope to agree before you book
The programme, panel or participation structure being reviewed, the policies and practice we will look at, who will contribute and the timetable. Tell us which parts of your current approach you most want to improve.

What you get

✓  A written review of how you work now
✓  What is working and what isn’t
✓  Practical recommendations
✓  What to fix first
✓  A session with your team on putting it into practice

Good for

Organisations building or reviewing lived experience programmes, panels, advisory groups or participation structures.

Talk to us about a framework

Participation Framework

Link to this package ↗
Copy the link to share with a colleague.

One team runs a survey. Another sets up a panel. Someone else commissions a consultation. Everyone means well, but nobody shares the same idea of what good participation looks like. We help you build one.

How it works

We map how participation happens across your organisation now, then work with staff and the people you serve to build a framework that fits how you actually work. Not a glossy document for the shelf: something that helps people make better decisions on a normal Tuesday.

Scope to agree before you book
The teams and activities the framework will cover, who helps develop it, the guidance and templates included, and the timetable. We confirm the deliverables for the £4,950 package before you commit.

Outputs to confirm in your scope

✓  Shared principles for how you involve people
✓  Clear options for how people can take part
✓  What is expected of staff
✓  Guidance on payment, accessibility and support
✓  Standards for feeding back and showing what changed
✓  Practical templates and tools
✓  A finished written framework, and where to start

Good for

Organisations where lots of people involve the public in lots of ways, with no shared idea of what good looks like or who is responsible.

“Does this keep the Promise?”

Does your work reflect the Promise in practice?

Promise-proof your work

Promise Proofing

Link to this package ↗
Copy the link to share with a colleague.

Saying your work aligns with the Promise is easy. Knowing what that means for a real policy, service or programme is harder. We bring a care experienced perspective, participation expertise and practical scrutiny.

How it works

We review a defined piece of work and test how well its assumptions, language, processes and outcomes reflect the direction of the Promise. Where useful, we involve people with relevant lived experience in the review.

Scope to agree before you book
The policy, service, programme or plan we will review, the material included, whether lived experience involvement is needed and the timetable. Tell us which decision or stage of development the review needs to inform.

What you get

✓  A clear review of your work
✓  Where it already keeps the Promise
✓  Gaps, risks or unintended consequences
✓  Practical recommendations and suggested changes
✓  A short written report

Good for

Policies, programmes, service redesigns, strategies and significant pieces of work affecting care experienced people.

You need someone good in the room. Critical Friend gives you an agreed amount of regular support from ProjectChange. Bring an idea, a draft or a problem to your scheduled conversations, and we will help you think it through.

How it works

We agree the monthly time available, meeting frequency, document-review allowance and how to contact us before you start. We also confirm response times, the minimum commitment and how either of us can end the arrangement. The examples below help shape that agreement; the support included is set out in your scope.

A typical package could include

✓  A monthly senior-team session
✓  Review of significant policies, plans or resources
✓  Advice on participation and co-design
✓  Support before major engagement activity
✓  Challenge when something needs challenged
✓  A short quarterly note on what we’re noticing

Good for

Organisations doing substantial work around participation, lived experience, the Promise or organisational change.
